Is it Really God’s Will for Me to Succeed Part 2

Jul 13, 2021

Welcome back to part two of Is it Really God’s Will for Me to Succeed?

That’s a large and broad topic. If you didn’t read last week’s, feel free to look that up. We answered the beginning of that question which is a very important component. And we talked about a conversation that I had had with a Jewish gentleman at a Christmas banquet for one of the businesses that we own and it was just fascinating… from a very young age in the Jewish faith, he had been taught that he has an insurance policy in his pocket for his success and it is called the Blessing of Abraham. So we unpacked that and then we went through Galatians 3:13, where Christ became cursed for us that we might have access to that blessing that now flows on to us as believers… and how that works into our lives.

Today, we are going to unpack the second part of that conversation, which is in the co-creation chapter. this particular chapter is referenced in one of the conversations that Jesus had with the Pharisees and Sadducees… Jesus was out teaching and he called himself the son of man. In response they had picked up rocks to begin to stone him. And he says, “Why are you stoning me? Is it because of the good works I do?” They said no, it not that… it’s because you referenced yourself as the Son of Man, the Son of God.”

And Jesus said, “Doesn’t your own word say, concerning you, that you are gods?” I know that as soon as you hear me say that many of our religious alarms go off and we start saying oh my gosh, that’s blasphemy. Well, that’s what Jesus got in trouble for: blasphemy. That was his point. He stated that they were about to stone him for saying he was the Son of God but their own word said that they were gods.

This is a fascinating reference. It refers back to the co-creator chapter, which is in Psalms 82. It starts out by God showing his part in our life, our success, and what is our part. He says I stand in the congregation of the mighty and I judge among the gods. Now what did Jesus just say? God calls us gods a few versus down. And that is what Jesus is referring back to. Many of you once again, those religious alarms are going off: that is blasphemous.

Well, let's break down the definition of that word. God. The Hebrew word for God here is Elohim. Right? And just say that, we'll just say Elohim, right? It's a word that explains the creator. This is what’s so critical… Genesis 1 in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. In that, the Hebrew word used for God is Elohim, the creator. So when He says later on that you are gods, he is saying that you are creators.

In our book, Creating Your Best Life, we go into detail on these particular items. We talk about how the co-creator verse can come alive in your life and the how-tos of it. But it starts once again by accepting who God has made you to be. And God says you are a creator.

The big question is: how do I create? But first go back to is it God's will for me to succeed? And the answer is yes. It brings more questions: How do I operate that in my life? Does God just rain down success? Will it just come to me one day? LIke will it show up like a UPS package or an Amazon package labeled: Here’s Success Or Here’s all the Money You Need.  Is that the way it works?

Or is there a responsibility that falls on you? Yeah, it falls on you just like it fell on me. There is a responsibility in being aware that we are co-creators. He says that He is the God of gods, the Lord of lords… Who do you think he is talking about? It is the creators that are you and me; we have our responsibility in co-creating our lives. Too many of us have said, If it is God’s will, it will happen?

              Psalm 82

God presides in the great assembly;

    he renders judgment among the “gods”:

2 “How long will you[a] defend the unjust

    and show partiality to the wicked?[b]

3 Defend the weak and the fatherless;

    uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.

4 Rescue the weak and the needy;

    deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

5 “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing.

    They walk about in darkness;

    all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6 “I said, ‘You are “gods”;

    you are all sons of the Most High.’

7 But you will die like mere mortals;

    you will fall like every other ruler.”

8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth,

    for all the nations are your inheritance.

 He says, I stand in the congregation of the mighty (that's you!), I judge among the gods (that's you!). And then He goes on to say, how long will you allow things to happen? He knows that we have all said, how long before you give me this or that. No. No. No. The co-creator chapter sheds light that there are items that God is responsible for in our successes and there are items that we are responsible for. As we learn those tougher in Creating Your Best Life and creatingyourbest.com, you are going to be able to implement those into your everyday life… so that you can step into your role of being a creator and begin to create your best life!
