Do My Words Really Create

Oct 15, 2021

There are many who debate in theological circles as to whether our words create. I think everyone would agree that God’s words create but often people will question the power of their own words. First of all, we have to keep in mind and understand that God created you in His image and His likeness. So therefore words coming from your mouth create as well.

I’m going to give you an example. We have all had someone who has said something about us that is positive and uplifting. It can be encouraging and fill us with life, with power and with energy. And all of a sudden we feel good and our posture changes and everything has changed because someone has spoken life over us. And unfortunately, everyone has also had the opposite happen. When you’re in school being made fun of or someone close to us has said something mean. And in that moment you can literally feel the courage leaving you: discouragement, all because of words.

It’s interesting that words we know contain energy. Words create energy. We know from a scientific level that when we speak, there are decibels, a measurement of energy and the sound waves that are being produced.  In addition to just the fact that words create energy, they don’t just transfer energy. They transfer a certain type of energy based upon what words are said.

Proverbs 18 says, death and life is in the power of the tongue. The power of the tongue has death and life inside of it… and you know when you have those exchanges that can bring about life in you or the life that is zapped from you when someone speaks to you. So we know that spoken words create energy and can create this or that.

Another verse in particular in James chapter 3 says that the tongue is called the most unruly of members. So out of your body, the most unruly part of all of it is the tongue. And what it says is that we put bridles in horses’ mouths and we are able to turn them wherever as well as great ships that are moved by great winds with the tiny keep in the back guiding it where to do. So I want you to think about this; so is the tongue. The words you speak have the power to guide as a bridle or rudder. That is the power that comes inside of words. That means James is teaching that your mouth and your words have the same power and ability to guide, to lead, to direct, or create.

How important are the words that you speak? One of the things that we talk about in the creation sequence is the one of the best and first things that you should meditate on and speak over your life every single day: Psalm 23:6, Surely, goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life. And today is one of those days. So good things are coming!!

That’s what we are teaching as one of the first steps. First to put inside your thoughts, inside your mind that goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life. Imagine what your day is like when you start out differently by thinking that way in the morning. Instead of being worried about potential for wrong, the conflict that may or may not happen, the bills that need to get paid or the aspects of business and career that lead to a downward spiral. When we get into that place, pretty soon words start going and leading in that direction, which tells me words have power. And when we live to the contrary speaking, knowing that our words create… I start my day, everyday by speaking the direction I want the horse to go, my life to go, or the ship to go. So yeah, to answer this question…

YOUR WORDS DO CREATE, especially when you’re wanting to create your best life!
